Dr. Efigenia Montalvo González has a PhD in Food Sciences from the Technological Institute of Veracruz, Mexico. She is a professor-researcher at the Technological Institute of Tepic since 2007. She won the 2013 National Award for Science and Technology, was part of the Board of Directors of the Mexican Society of Annonaceae in 2014-2016, was part of the Board of Directors of the Mexican Association of Food Sciences (AMECA) in the period 2018-2021. She is member of the technical committee of the National Network of Food Loss and Waste, a member of the National Network of Annonaceae and the Network of Functional Foods and Nutraceuticals. In 2021, she won an honorable mention in the National Science Award and Food Technology. Dr. Montalvo’s research interests are associated with the post-harvest preservation of fruits and vegetables, the use of emerging technologies for food preservation and the use of food by-products; as well as evaluating the biological activity of functional foods and/or nutraceuticals. She has been responsible for 27 financed research projects, is the author of 100 publications, has directed 28 master’s theses, 6 doctoral theses, and is a member of the National System of Researchers Level III.
