María Elena Sosa Morales is a full-time professor at the Department of Food Engineering in the University of Guanajuato, Mexico. Currently, she is the Coordinator for the Postgraduate programs (Master and Doctorate) in Biosciences. She is a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI, level 2), member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences, and a professional member of the IFT (Institute of Food Technologists). She is a founder member of the IFT Mexico Section, created in 2022. Dr. Sosa-Morales is a Food Engineer by the University of Guanajuato, got the Master degree from University of the Americas Puebla and the PhD degree by the Technological Institute of Veracruz. She has contributed with 71 JCR papers, 13 book chapters and 1 book. Recently, she was a Guest Editor in the International Journal of Food Science and Technology for the special issue entitled “Advances in food thermal processing: frying strategies and radio frequency heating”. Professor Sosa-Morales has advised 68 bachelor theses, 30 theses for Master students and 4 for PhD students. She has experience conducting projects for research, food industry and small producers. Her research field is devoted to radiofrequency, microwave, UV-C and frying.
