Raúl Avila Sosa Sánchez is a graduate of the Faculty of Chemical Sciences of the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Chemist Pharmacobiologist, and a Master’s degree in Food Science and Technology from the Autonomous University of Chihuahua and Doctor in Food Science from the University of the Americas Puebla. He is a member of the CONACYT National System of Researchers. He currently works in the Department of Biochemistry-Food of the Faculty of Chemical Sciences of the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) where he was Head of it. 

He has participated in a large number of national and international conferences with different research projects. Among some recognitions he has received for academic career in the Faculty of Chemical Sciences. BUAP. Student Merit Award. National Association of Food Technologists (ATAM) and CONACYT fellow. He has carried out scientific outreach activities giving lectures at various higher education institutions in the state of Puebla, as well as participating in a radio program. His main field of research is the study and application of antimicrobials and antioxidants of natural origin. He has been a member of the International Association of Food Protection (IAFP) since 2009 and has been President of the Mexican Association for Food Protection (AMEPAL) since 2021.
